Simply Fired: Online Ordering for a Wood-Fired Pizza Pop-Up
Simply Fired is a small wood-fired pizza business in New Boston, NH. They run pop-up pizza nights from a backyard oven, and each night has a fixed number of pizzas and a fixed number of pickup times. We built the website and the ordering system behind it, and we run it for them on our own servers. It's live at simplyfirednh.com.

The problem
A pop-up night has a hard limit. The oven can only turn out so many pizzas an hour, and each night has only so much dough. Taking orders by message means someone keeps the list by hand and checks every new request against it, and a double-booked pickup time or an oversold pizza lands on the busiest night.
What we built
Customers pick an upcoming sale date, see the menu for that night, add pizzas and toppings to a cart, and choose a pickup time. Most pickup times take one order each, so the oven never gets backed up. While someone is checking out, their pickup time and the items in their cart are held for 10 minutes, so nobody else can take them. The database itself refuses a second order for a slot that's already taken, which covers the case where two people hit submit at the same moment.
Customers pay by Venmo or cash at pickup. The confirmation email has their order, their pickup time and, for Venmo, a QR code and the total to send. A reminder goes out the day before, and an "order ready" email goes out when the pizza comes out of the oven.

The admin side
The owners run everything from one password-protected dashboard:
- Set up sale dates, choose which menu items are on each one, and set the pickup window in 5-minute steps. A date can be marked sold out.
- Add and edit menu items with photos, prices and toppings.
- See every order for a date, edit one, or delete one with a reason, which is kept in the record.
- Print order tickets for the kitchen, four to a page, and export orders to a spreadsheet.
- See totals per sale date and the best-selling items.
- Edit the email wording, the home page message, the about page and the photo gallery.

How it's built
The first version was built quickly with Lovable, an AI app builder, on top of Supabase. It worked, but it depended on a hosted service the business didn't control. We moved it onto our own stack with Claude Code doing most of the migration work: a React front end, an Express API, PostgreSQL for the data, MinIO for photos, Resend for email, and nginx in front. Along the way we added admin sign-in, locked down which pages can see customer details, and cleaned up search engine basics so the site shows up for people looking for pizza in New Boston.
What changed for the owners
Orders arrive complete and in one place. Pickup times can't be double-booked, and a date can't oversell. On pizza night they print the tickets and cook, and the customers already have their pickup time and payment instructions.
