Bit Refinery: A Hosting Company Website with an AI Blog
Bit Refinery is a hosting company in Denver that has run bare-metal servers since 2008 and now rents private NVIDIA GPU clusters. We built and run its website, bitrefinery.com, along with the admin tools the team uses to keep it current: an AI blog that writes and illustrates its own posts, social posting, analytics, customer chat and a set of free infrastructure tools.

The problem
A hosting company sells to engineers, and engineers search before they call. Bit Refinery needed a steady stream of detailed articles about GPU costs, bare metal and private AI, service pages that search engines and AI assistants can read in full, and a way to publish all of it without a marketing team.
What we built
The first version came out of Lovable, an AI app builder, on Supabase. We moved it to Bit Refinery's own servers: a React front end, an Express API, PostgreSQL, MinIO for files and images, and nginx in front. Every page is rendered to static HTML at build time, so search crawlers and AI assistants see the full text of each page instead of an empty app shell. It has a service page for each offering, from the private GPU cloud to ClickHouse, Trino and VergeOS.

The AI blog
The team keeps a queue of topics. Once a day a scheduler takes the next topic and sends it to a writing model through OpenRouter with the company's writing brief. The model returns a full post, and an image model draws a featured image and, when it's switched on, an infographic in the site's style. Before the post goes up, the generator adds links to related posts already on the blog. Once it's live, the post is sent to IndexNow so Bing and other engines pick it up, and it can be shared to the company's LinkedIn page and to X with one click, or to X automatically.
The admin can also write a post from a single topic on demand, rewrite a draft, and change the prompt or either model without a redeploy. The blog has 71 posts so far.

Tools, chat and analytics
- Infrastructure tools: 25 free utilities at /tools, including DNS lookup, ping, traceroute, a speed test, a subnet calculator and cost calculators. The network tools run from Bit Refinery's own servers.
- Support chat: visitors can chat with the team live over websockets, and support requests become Zendesk tickets.
- Analytics: page views are tracked on Bit Refinery's own server with no third party. Bots are filtered out and no IP address is stored.
- Admin sign-in: one-time codes by email, with separate admin and operations roles.

What came out of it
The blog publishes on a schedule without anyone sitting down to write, and each post is indexed and shared the day it goes up. The analytics and blog admin worked well enough that we ported both into this site's own admin.
