My neighbor Seth did just that, thanks to AI. As Rick Rubin noted in an [a16z podcast](https://youtu.be/7s9C92Pkcc0?si=fiEcWJ3nVbz7yEH8), "AI removes the coding barrier, letting anyone create" - Seth’s story proves it. ## The Challenge Seth, an excellent cook, built a pizza oven and mastered dishes like pulled pork, bread, and cannolis. Inspired by Instagram pop-ups, he wanted to sell his pizzas locally but faced hurdles: building a website traditionally meant wrestling with complex tools like WordPress or limited platforms like GoDaddy, plus manually managing orders and promotions. It was daunting and costly—potentially over $10,000. ## The AI Solution Enter [Lovable](https://lovable.dev/) and [Supabase](https://supabase.com/). Using just prompts and creativity, I built Seth a professional website in days, no coding required. What started as a simple site to showcase pizzas grew into a powerful platform with: - **Ordering & Payments**: A full shopping cart with emailed receipts and pickup reminders. - **Customization**: Editable menus with add-ons (like Seth’s popular hot honey) and site content. - **Efficiency**: Time-slot reservations to manage high demand, plus revenue reports with charts. - **Engagement**: A photo gallery to highlight Seth’s creations. - **Flexibility**: An admin dashboard for Seth and his wife to update text and images. ![Seth’s pizza site homepage](https://t10.net/media/blog/blog-posts-simply-fired-1.webp) ## Overcoming Hiccups At times, I hit minor snags—like tweaking a prompt for the reservation system—but Lovable’s improving AI made fixes quick. Most features took just one or two prompts, proving how intuitive these tools are. ## The Impact Seth’s pop-up sales are now sold out within an hour. Customers love the seamless ordering and hot honey add-ons, while Seth tracks sales effortlessly. What once seemed impossible is now reality, all for a fraction of the cost of traditional development. ![Ordering system in action](https://t10.net/media/blog/blog-posts-simply-fired-2.webp) ![Revenue dashboard](https://t10.net/media/blog/blog-posts-simply-fired-3.webp) ![Photo gallery of Seth’s pizzas](https://t10.net/media/blog/blog-posts-simply-fired-4.webp) ## What’s Next? AI lets anyone turn ideas into reality, from backyard ovens to global apps. Seth’s pizza business is just the start. Now I'm looking for some quadcopter drones to deliver those pizzas...
